Facial fat transfer helps boosts fullness or contour areas such as the cheeks and jawline

As we age, parts of the face begin to require more fullness. This may be by filling a hollow area or redefining volume in specific areas. What better or safer material to use than your own tissue? We offer facial fat transfer as a method of anti-ageing and skin rejuvenation that uses your own fat cells to provide volume to areas of the face where it’s lacking.

At LASE Cosmetic we offer this modern method of skin rejuvenation to help you achieve your aesthetic goals. Our safety first approach and comprehensive follow-up plans ensure patients are happy for years to come.

If you would like to discuss this type of anti-ageing treatment or discover how best to add volume to the face using dermal fillers. You can be assured we have the best facial fat transfer surgeons, we can discuss and advise you on the best plan for your individual needs.

Description

Facial fat transfer is a minimally invasive form of facial rejuvenation. It’s designed to take fat from a certain area of the body and replace it in areas of the face in order to create volume or fill hollow pockets. This is specifically useful for patients that wish to boost fullness or contour areas such as the cheeks and jawline.

Patients pick facial fat transfer procedures to contour the face using the patient’s own tissue. It can be offered as a stand alone form of facial rejuvenation or as part of a wider treatment plan with procedures such as facelift surgery to transform the face.

Frequently Asked Questions

Making the decision to undergo surgical procedures can be a difficult one, and there are many questions you may have. Please read the frequently asked questions below which may answer any queries or ease any concerns you may have.

Who is suitable for this type of surgery?

This type of facial rejuvenation surgery is usually deemed suitable for men and women over 40, although younger patients can be considered in certain circumstances. Prospective patients should be healthy and are looking to subtly contour and reshape the face and/or improve volume.

What happens during facial fat transfer?

Before undergoing a facial fat transfer procedure you’ll have a consultation with your practitioner. They will talk you through what facial fat transfer can offer, as well as any risks or side effects you should be aware of.

During this facial rejuvenation procedure, fat is taken from one area of the body and replaced in the face. We can also transfer fat to the body – this is called liposculpture. It’s common for the fat to be taken from areas where fat is stored more commonly, like the abdomen.

Treatment times vary between patients and it largely depends on the part of the face/body being treated and how much fat needs to be extracted and replaced.

What is the recovery of facial fat transfer like?

An overnight stay is occasionally needed but you will be seen before you’re allowed home to recover further. Some swelling and bruising is normal but painkillers can be given to manage any discomfort.

Generally, patients take around 4-6 weeks to recover initially but this varies patient to patient. The swelling and bruising can last for some weeks after this, and it’s good to be prepared for that. You will also be given aftercare with regards to how to ensure the new fat cells remain alive.

How long do the results of facial fat transfer last?

Results cannot be guaranteed, so it’s important to be mindful of your expectations and take any advice offered with regards to preparing for the procedure and the aftercare that’s also needed.

Who should you trust to perform this facial rejuvenation procedure?

At LASE Cosmetic in Newcastle we offer facial fat transfer procedures and have a team of experts who specialise in this form of anti ageing surgery. If you decide to go ahead with this procedure, a practitioner will give you advice on how best to move forward.
