Help rejuvenate your appearance with our effective brow lift surgery

As we age, signs of ageing form around the eyes. While some think a blepharoplasty procedure is needed it may actually be brow lift surgery that’s most helpful.

Brow lift surgery is a procedure designed to lift the brow line and rejuvenate the upper eye area. Often brow lifts are combined with facelift surgery or other facial cosmetic procedures such as upper eye lid rejuvenation. If you would like to discuss brow lift surgery please.

Description

Brow lift is a cosmetic procedure performed by a plastic surgeon who specialises in facial rejuvenation surgery. The aim is to create a more youthful appearance by lifting the brow and preventing the dropping effect that many patients find ages them.

Some patients choose this type of facial rejuvenation surgery because it also can help someone look happier, as it reduces furrows. During your preliminary consultation a plastic surgeon will discuss your options and tailor a customised treatment plan for you. It may be that brow lift surgery needs to be combined with eye lift procedures.

Frequently Asked Questions

Making the decision to undergo surgical procedures can be a difficult one, and there are many questions you may have. Please read the frequently asked questions below which may answer any queries or ease any concerns you may have.

How can brow lift surgery improve your appearance?

This brow lift surgery procedure specifically lifts the upper eye area and helps to create a more soft, wide eyed appearance. Muscles below the surface of the skin can also be tightened up, if this is deemed necessary. The end goal is to create a more young-looking appearance. Combining this procedure with anti-ageing treatments such as muscle relaxing injections or dermal fillers may also be beneficial.

Who is suitable for this type of surgery?

Surgery to rejuvenate the brow area is most frequently requested by patients over 45. Both male and female patients visit us to discuss brow lifting, although men more commonly request it. A consultation is vital to determine whether this is the most appropriate procedure for you.

What happens during a brow lift?

A brow lift is a surgical procedure and your facial rejuvenation surgery will take place in hospital. You will meet your surgeon prior to undergoing this or any form of surgery. This is a popular type of facial rejuvenation surgery and takes around 1.5-2 hours, however this can vary.

The surgeon makes small incisions above the eye or in the hair line before the brow skin is lifted to minimise frowning and dropping skin. The incisions are carefully closed before the patient is taken to recover, sometimes with an overnight stay.

What is the recovery like?

There may be an overnight stay, and there will be some swelling and bruising, which is normal, and painkillers can be prescribed to manage any discomfort.

You will be given aftercare information to follow at home, including when you’re expected to be able to return to work. On average, patients usually take around 4-6 weeks to recover but this varies patient to patient.

How long do the results of facial surgery last?

Most of our patients say the results of their brow lift surgery to be long-lasting. It can’t prevent the skin from ageing, but patients that have had a brow lift will likely look more youthful in this area for longer than someone of the same age that’s not had surgery.

Who should you trust perform facial rejuvenation surgery?

It’s best to trust your care with experts who really take the time to understand what you need. Here at LASE Cosmetic in Newcastle we have a team of surgeons and skin experts ready to help you. They are recognised on the specialist register for plastic surgery at the General Medical Council. We offer honest advice and take pride in ensuring our patients are comfortable.

Can a brow lift be done under local anaesthesia?

There are different types of brow lift. The more minor ones can often be done under local anaesthetic but the more significant ones will often need a general anaesthetic.

Are brow lifts permanent?

Brow lifts are usually long lasting but should not be considered permanent. Like any aesthetic surgery, time and aging will slowly reduce the effectiveness of the result. Some brow lifts might last long enough that you would not need repeat surgery but this should not be assumed to be the case and cannot be guaranteed.
