There is little doubt we now face unprecedented challenges in our daily life many this will be for the first time in our lives. The changes enforced have affected every single person in the UK. In this blog we will look at how things have affected us and how we see things developing.
Our lead cosmetic surgeon, Ahmed Ali-Khan has spent all his working life in the NHS. It is an amazing institution which has taught him so much and helped him develop his skills to incredible levels. These skills have made Ahmed the surgeon extremely successful in his private practice as well. Despite recently opening the luxury LASE Cosmetic clinic in Jesmond, Newcastle Upon Tyne Ahmed still retains an honorary position in the Durham NHS hospital where he was a consultant surgeon for nearly 10 years.
The recent pandemic has led to unprecedented demands on the NHS. Ahmed & Lisa have decided to close LASE Cosmetic while we try to defeat the virus and he has offered his services to assist the NHS during this time while Lisa has offered her skills to charities for the elderly. It does not mean they are not available to private patients for support and queries by telephone and email will still be responded to.
Private hospitals have given their beds and facilities over to the NHS for Covid-19 patients. It may take some time, even after the virus subsides, to return to normal so please bear with us as the situation develops. Although we appreciate many of you are looking for cosmetic surgery and we totally understand the hugely positive effects this can have, for now it is right to postpone such activity while we fight this dangerous virus.
In the meantime, we would just like to stress the measures you can take to ensure your safety and the safety of others:
- Avoid contact with someone who is displaying symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19). These symptoms include high temperature and / or new and continuous cough.
- Avoid non-essential use of public transport when possible. Work from home, where possible. Your employer should support you to do this. Please refer to employer guidance for more information.
- Avoid gatherings in public spaces, noting that pubs, restaurants, leisure centres and similar venues are currently shut as infections spread easily in closed spaces where people congregate.
- Avoid gatherings with friends and family. Keep in touch using remote technology such as phone, internet, and social media.
- Use telephone or online services to contact your GP or other essential services.
- Washing your hands regularly – with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use a virucidal hand sanitiser.
- Do not touch your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
- Avoid contact with people who have symptoms of cough, upper respiratory tract infection, a temperature or who have returned from areas of concern recently.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in a bin and wash your hands
- Clean and disinfect touched objects and surfaces in the home
- The advise to everyone to access medical assistance remotely, wherever possible. However, if you have a scheduled hospital or other medical appointment during this period, talk to your GP or clinician to ensure you continue to receive the care you need and consider whether appointments can be postponed.

It remains for us to wish everyone well and to stay safe. Where possible stay home. Remember to look after your physical and mental well-being during these times within the government guidance.
