Laser skin resurfacing is a non-surgical procedure designed to improve the texture, tone, and overall quality of the skin. By utilising a specialised laser device, a range of concerns such as wrinkles, fine lines, acne scars, and uneven pigmentation can be addressed.
The laser’s energy is precisely targeted at the skin’s surface, gently removing the top layer of damaged or aged skin cells (the epidermis) and heats the underlying layer (the dermis). As a result, the body’s natural healing mechanisms are triggered and collagen production is promoted. Collagen is a protein that provides structural support to the skin, keeping it plump, firm, and youthful and it gradually replaces the old, damaged skin. This renewal process leads to improved skin texture, reduced wrinkles, and a more even skin tone.
Dermablate is a state-of-the-art Er:YAG Laser for skin ablation and fractional therapy.
With its precision and versatile treatment options, the Cool Laser presents the most innovative medical laser workstation to treat a wide array of skin concerns. Through controlled ablation and collagen stimulation, this technology offers a gateway to renewed skin vitality with a smoother texture, diminished wrinkles, and a revitalised complexion.
Cool Laser skin rejuvenation treatments can restore luminosity, youth, and skin tightness through non-invasive treatment with little downtime. Cool Laser allows thermal damage to be controlled and lead to collagen remodelling while preserving the epidermis.
This process encourages collagen and elastin production to tighten the skin and improve its overall appearance to achieve a more youthful look.
This specially designed laser uses fractional laser therapy to treat tissue in a grid formation. This unique approach allows the skin to heal rapidly after treatment which not only produces better results but also lowers the risk of any side effects.
Cool Laser effectively reduces the appearance of wrinkles and scars as well as decreasing the size of skin pores and reducing skin pigmentation. This combination helps to improve the overall appearance of your skin in as little as three treatment sessions.
How Does Laser Skin Resurfacing Work with the Cool Laser?
The erbium:YAG laser Cool Laser emits focused beams of light at a peak wavelength of 2940nm within the infrared spectrum that are absorbed by water molecules in the epidermis and dermis. This results in a laser capable of delivering fully ablative or fractional skin ablation, treating epidermal and dermal lesions.
For efficient ablative skin resurfacing, the Cool Laser’s flat-top beam profile allows for precise ablation with minimal thermal damage. Superficial as well as deep ablation can be delivered with minimal risk of scarring or pigment change. The Cool Laser allows for a high repetition rate for faster treatments while still giving full control over the pulse length for optimal results.
With fractional skin ablation, the laser beam is divided into thousands of tiny, closely spaced microbeams. Fractional laser treatment causes “micro-injuries” on a fraction of the skin’s surface, leaving surrounding healthy tissue untouched. The Cool Laser ensures highly precise and even distribution of MicroSpots leading to immediate effects and continuous improvement. It is suitable for all skin types and body regions and requires no anaesthesia resulting in a short regeneration time.
It’s important to note that erbium:YAG laser treatments should be performed by trained and experienced medical professionals, as the depth and intensity of the treatment can be customised to address specific skin concerns. Consultations at LASE Cosmetic are complementary and can help determine if erbium:YAG laser rejuvenation is suitable for your skin type and concerns.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many treatments do I need to see an improvement in skin firmness?
A course of three treatments is recommended one month apart. Following the course of treatments, there is increased activity in the dermal layer of the skin and this will continue for a few months after the course of treatments. Maintenance treatments are once a year.
Does the treatment hurt?
Patients tolerate the treatment well. It is not painful while having the treatment. There is some mild tingling when the skin becomes hot. A Cool mask is applied following the treatment to soothe the skin.
What is the downtime?
Immediately following the treatment, the area feels hot, rather like mild sunburn. The heat will remain in your skin for up to 36 hours. Following that your skin will feel like fine sandpaper. This is because of the micro scabbing and exfoliation of the upper layers of the skin. This slightly rough texture will exfoliate over the next few days revealing softer, smoother, radiant looking skin. The total process takes around 5 to 7 days.
Can I go on holiday in the sun following a Cool Laser treatment?
Yes, you can go on holiday two weeks after your laser treatment, but we advise strongly that you keep the treated area covered and do not expose it to direct sunlight.
How many treatments do I need?
Usually, a course of three treatments is required. For severely damaged skin, additional treatments may be needed.
What maintenance treatments would I need?
Maintenance treatments are recommended once a year.
Will it help with age spots?
Yes. Cool laser is very effective for treating pigmented areas. When receiving a full face treatment, we target age spots and carry out focused treatments over these areas as part of your full face treatment. You may need to use a brightening product alongside your Cool Laser treatments and this would be discussed in your consultation.
Where can you treat with Cool Laser?
You can treat any part of the body with Cool Laser. It is suitable for the face, neck and chest, arms and back of the hands, stretch marks or loose skin on the tummy. You can even treat elbows and knees.
What skincare products should I use following the treatment?
You do not need to buy any products in preparation of your treatment. As part of your course of treatments, you will be given a gentle cleanser, a soothing balm and an environmental protector. The products are all full size and are large enough to last you for the course of your treatments.
