You’ve lost a lot of weight, what can you do to remove or improve the appearance of sagging skin?

Weight loss is the primary reason why many people choose to undergo plastic/cosmetic surgery and depending on the area of concern there are a number of different options available.

There are a lots of non-surgical procedures available that could help tighten the skin if the sagging is minor and your professional assesses the area and concludes that a good result can be achieved, however if there has been a dramatic weight loss either from diet and exercise or as a result of weight loss surgery (gastric band/bypass or sleeve) a surgical procedure maybe the only option to completely remove the sagging skin and to regain contour.

What surgical options are available for sagging skin?

Brachioplasty (Arm Lift) – An Arm Lift tightens loose skin under the arm that creates what many call a ‘bat wing’ or ‘bingo wing’ appearance. The procedure is often performed in conjunction with liposuction to remove excess fat as well as skin.

Mastopexy (Breast Uplift) – A Mastopexy is performed to raise sagging breasts upon the chest by changing and modifying the size, contour, and elevation of the breasts.

Breast Reduction – Breast reduction surgery can help women who are unhappy with the shape, weight or droop of their breasts by making them smaller and more lifted.

Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck) – Abdominoplasty (commonly known as a tummy tuck) removes excess skin and fat around the stomach while tightening the abdominal wall. The surgery is frequently performed after pregnancy or weight loss, when the skin has become stretched or saggy. A new belly button may need to be surgically created by Umbilicoplasty.

Thigh Lift – Thigh lift is a surgical procedure that reshapes the inner and outer thighs by removing excess skin and fat.
