Co-founder – Lead Plastic Surgeon – Medical Director
Mr Ahmed Ali-Khan FRCS (Plast.)
Mr Ahmed Ali-Khan is one of the most experienced breast and body plastic surgeons in the UK. His plastic surgery career began in Bristol, where he earned his FRCS in 2009, before specialist fellowship training took him to Sydney (skin cancer at the Melanoma Institute Australia), Cambridge (microsurgery and reconstruction) and London (cosmetic surgery). He became an NHS consultant surgeon in 2011 and started private practice when he joined Spire Washington in 2012. In 2019, he and Lisa founded LASE Cosmetic, where he serves as Lead Consultant and Medical Director.
Mr Ahmed Ali-Khan is particularly sought after for breast augmentation, breast lift and abdominoplasty surgery, including complex revision cases for patients who have had previous surgery elsewhere in the UK or abroad. As a senior surgeon, he has trained and mentored several younger plastic surgeons, some of whom now work alongside him here at LASE – a source of genuine professional pride.
He is one of very few UK surgeons to have trained at the Melanoma Institute Australia, making him distinctively placed to offer skin cancer assessment and surgery alongside his cosmetic practice. He currently serves as National Chairman of BAAPS Support, serves on national council of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS), and is the former Medical Advisory Committee Chairman at Spire Washington Hospital.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
At LASE Cosmetic, we welcome any questions you may have - whether you are a patient of ours, considering a procedure or just curious. In this section, we have outlined the more frequent questions we get asked for you. If the answer you sought out isn't in this section, or you would like further clarification, please feel free to contact our clinical team.
Before any surgery, we will arrange a consultation at the LASE Cosmetic hospital in Jesmond, Newcastle. You will have the opportunity to discuss the various types of surgery for breast augmentation, as well as alternatives such as breast uplift surgery. An expert surgeon will also make you aware of:
- What will happen during the surgery.
- The anaesthetic that will be administered.
- Any tests they deem necessary before the surgery.
- Possible risk factors and complications for you.
This consultation will explain what preparations you will need to make prior to the surgery and what to be aware of. For instance, breast augmentation under light anaesthetic will have specific recommendations pre and post-operation. Preparations will also vary based on your medical history and current health.
Absolutely. We understand that considering aesthetic treatment can feel overwhelming. Our role is to listen, guide, and reassure – never to rush or pressure. Many patients come to LASE specifically because of our calm, human, and supportive approach.
No ethical clinic can guarantee results. What we do guarantee is honest advice, realistic expectations, and treatment plans based on clinical expertise and patient safety. Our focus is always on natural, balanced outcomes that reflect the real you.
If you’re thinking ‘should I get a breast augmentation?’, there are a number of factors you should consider first. One of these is to research the type of implants available and their features. We only use implants from two of the leading manufacturers of breast implants today – GC Aesthetics and Motiva. Both companies utilise gel technology that far exceeds the quality of implants from even a decade ago, whilst also carrying far less risk.
The PERLE range from GC Aesthetics utilises Emunomic™ Breast Tissue Dynamic Gel combined with (R)evolutionary BioQ™– Surface technology. The result is a series of breast implants that prioritise patient safety and long lasting results.
Motiva breast implants prioritise a lack of complications, but they are also characterised by a tailored aesthetic look. The goal of breast augmentation is to maintain a natural look and feel in the breasts, while achieving the results you want. One of our friendly consultants will talk you through all the options you have for breast augmentation surgery when you visit us. This may include providing the sample implants for you to look at and handle.
Yes. LASE is CQC-registered for surgical procedures and operates under strict clinical governance. We apply hospital-grade safety standards across all treatments, including non-surgical care, which is uncommon in the aesthetics industry.
In some cases, yes. During your consultation, your surgeon may discuss whether combining treatments – either at the same time or as part of a longer-term plan – could help achieve your goals safely and naturally.
