Co-Founder – Managing Director – Lead Aesthetic Practitioner – Independent Nurse Prescriber
Lisa Ali-Khan RGN INP
Lisa Ali-Khan is one of the longest-standing aesthetic practitioners in the North East, with over 24 years of clinical experience across nursing and aesthetics. Before establishing her aesthetic practice in 2003, at a time when the specialty was still in its infancy, she trained as a nurse in York and worked in cardiothoracic ITU at Papworth Hospital, Cambridge, before moving into emergency medicine in Bristol. That clinical background is not incidental; it is the reason her approach to aesthetics has always been held to the highest of standards.
For more than 22 years, Lisa has worked directly alongside private plastic surgeons, developing a rare understanding of how surgical and non-surgical treatments intersect. In 2019, she and Mr Ahmed Ali-Khan founded LASE Cosmetic, the North East’s fully integrated surgical and non-surgical hospital & polyclinic, and she continues to set the clinical and ethical standards that define the practice.
Lisa’s focus is non-surgical skin rejuvenation and body contouring with a specialist experience in Cool Laser, CoolSculpting and lesion removal. As a qualified independent nurse prescriber since 2017, she also serves as a university mentor and assessor for the V300 prescriber course at the University of Sunderland – shaping the next generation of practitioners in the same spirit she has always practiced.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Biologically, polynucleotides are long chains of nucleotides. DNA and RNA are types of polynucleotides with specific biological functions.
Polynucleotides used in aesthetic treatments are highly purified DNA fractions derived from salmon trout.
They help with cellular repair and regeneration, moisturisation, and protection against harmful external agents such as UV rays.
The polynucleotide chains attract and bind water molecules, allowing them to provide a strong moisturising effect, which contributes to improved tissue elasticity.
Polynucleotides have a remarkable anti-free radical action. They counteract the skin damage which can accumulate due to various stressors, including cellular damage, stress, and exposure to UV rays, giving them a protective and cell damage reduction role.
Polynucleotides create an optimal environment for fibroblast growth and, in turn, increase collagen and elastin in the skin, which results in an overall improvement in the condition of the skin.
This multifaceted functioning classifies polynucleotides as a regenerative treatment, offering a unique and innovative approach in the field of skin care and rejuvenation.
This body contouring treatment is popular with both men and women looking to improve their silhouette. At LASE Cosmetic, we treat adults of all ages, and a consultation is essential to determine whether CoolSculpting is the most suitable fat reduction treatment for you. If you are looking to remove fat rather than reduce it, a surgical option such as liposculpture may also be considered.
For optimal results, most patients will require 3 sessions (approximately 1 session every 4-6 weeks). In some circumstances, more sessions may be needed. This will be discussed at your consultation.
We recommend that you pause any treatments like retinol, tretinoin, salicylic acid or glycolic for at least 14 days prior treatment. We recommend that you do not tan or use fake tan for at least 4 weeks prior to and for at least 6 weeks after this treatment. Certain medications can increase light sensitivity, but this would be discussed at your patch test appointment prior to the full laser treatment.
