Consultant Plastic Surgeon
Mr Iain Anderson FRCS (Plast.)
Mr Iain Anderson is a consultant plastic surgeon based in Newcastle upon Tyne whose NHS practice sits at the more complex end of reconstructive surgery. Skin cancer, malignant soft tissue tumours, major trauma wounds, microsurgery - the kind of cases that require a surgeon with depth across the whole discipline, not just a narrow speciality. That breadth is precisely what he brings to his cosmetic practice at LASE.
After completing his nationally appointed plastic surgical training in the North East, he was awarded a fellowship at the Canniesburn Plastic Surgery Unit in Glasgow – one of the most internationally respected centres for microvascular reconstructive surgery. He has since published in high-quality peer-reviewed journals and presented his work at national and international level.
Before taking up his consultant post, he was awarded the Niall Kirkpatrick BAAPS/BAPRAS Annual Cosmetic Surgery Fellowship; a coveted, competitively appointed award that gave him focused mentorship from internationally recognised experts across all areas of cosmetic plastic surgery. Combined with his experience in non-surgical aesthetic treatments, he is able to offer patients a genuinely holistic assessment: surgical and non-surgical options considered together, with honest advice about what is realistically achievable for each individual.
Patients consistently describe him as thorough, personable and easy to talk to – someone who takes the time to understand what they actually want, rather than directing them towards a pre-determined solution.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
At LASE Cosmetic, we welcome any questions you may have - whether you are a patient of ours, considering a procedure or just curious. In this section, we have outlined the more frequent questions we get asked for you. If the answer you sought out isn't in this section, or you would like further clarification, please feel free to contact our clinical team.
At LASE we only offer the surgery to women over 18 years old. Our surgeons will listen to your concerns and examine you with a chaperone present. They will then discuss suitable options for your consideration.
All surgery results in discomfort and, in some cases, pain. Our patients are provided with pain relief that they take home after labiaplasty, which is normally a day surgery procedure. In most cases discomfort after surgery is well tolerated, does not interfere with sleep and is less than patients expect before the surgery.
During chest reduction surgery, excess tissue is removed in order to make the area less prominent. The technique your surgeon chooses will depend on your personal goals and how much your size is due to decrease, but it often includes liposuction or fat transfer to reduce fat if this is deemed the main issue.
Male chest fat reduction surgery takes 2-3 hours, on average, but this will vary depending on the patient.
Before any surgery, we will arrange a consultation at the LASE Cosmetic hospital in Jesmond, Newcastle. You will have the opportunity to discuss the various types of surgery for breast augmentation, as well as alternatives such as breast uplift surgery. An expert surgeon will also make you aware of:
- What will happen during the surgery.
- The anaesthetic that will be administered.
- Any tests they deem necessary before the surgery.
- Possible risk factors and complications for you.
This consultation will explain what preparations you will need to make prior to the surgery and what to be aware of. For instance, breast augmentation under light anaesthetic will have specific recommendations pre and post-operation. Preparations will also vary based on your medical history and current health.
Your surgeon will advise you about this, but usually the provided post-operative bra is best for the first couple of weeks. After this time, it may become a little loose as it stretches and the post-op swelling reduces. At this time, it might be appropriate to switch into a replacement bra, but your surgeon will discuss this with you.
